Kathmandu- The Nepal–Canada Friendship and Cultural Association hosted a program in Kathmandu to commemorate the 61st year of Nepal–Canada diplomatic relations.
Organizing the event at Himalaya Resto and Event in Hattisar, Kathmandu, the Association also appreciated Canada’s support for Nepal’s mountain tourism and the goodwill it has shown toward mountaineering tourism.
The Association celebrated the 61st anniversary by holding an interaction program titled “Expansion of Nepal–Canada Relations through Mountaineering Tourism.” The program was attended by former Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy, Gangaprasad Upreti, foreign affairs expert and former ambassador Hiranyalal Shrestha, among others.
Speakers including former ambassador Kaliprasad Pokharel gave detailed explanations about Nepal–Canada diplomatic relations, while Achhiring Sherpa presented a working paper on Canada’s support in mountaineering tourism.
Similarly, during the program, the Association’s Vice President Prof. Dr. Gopal Pokharel ‘Bibash’ introduced the subject matter and spoke on issues such as the relationship between the two countries, the work carried out by the Association, and the neglect by the Government of Nepal in expanding bilateral relations. Prof. Dr. Pokharel also called for cooperation between Nepal and Canada in mountaineering tourism and various other sectors. Likewise, Association President Niroj Maske emphasized the need to pay greater attention to strengthening relations between the two countries.
Similarly, members of the Nepal–Canada Friendship and Cultural Association, including Devesh Dhungana, and the association’s former president, E. Keshav Kunwar, were present at the program.
